FDA to plant 100,000 saplings in Faisalabad city

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has decided to plant 100,000 useful saplings in government buildings and offices across the city as part of a coordinated strategy to improve the environment and promote a greener urban landscape.

In this connection, Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has constituted a Tree Plantation Committee headed by Director General FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhry.

The DG FDA convened meeting of the committee in FDA Complex where Managing Director Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) Dilawar Khan, Director Development Asif Iqbal Chohan, Director PHA Hasaan Javed and representative officers from the Municipal Corporation, education Department and other relevant departments were also present.

The meeting reviewed targets and practical measures for the plantation campaign and informed that 100,000 saplings would be planted within the boundary walls of various government buildings across the city including government residences, educational institutions, hospitals and public offices.

The meeting also informed that environment-friendly and beneficial saplings of various species with a minimum height of five feet would be planted to ensure better growth and quicker development.

Speaking on the occasion, FDA Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry highlighted the importance and benefits of tree plantation, stating that trees not only play a vital role in protecting the environment from pollution but also help create a pleasant urban atmosphere and mitigate the effects of climate change.

He expressed his commitment that all available resources would be utilized to make the plantation campaign successful in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz and Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar.

He directed the relevant departments to complete all administrative and operational preparations for the plantation drive and assigned clear targets to each department.

He also stressed the need to ensure effective care, irrigation and maintenance of the planted saplings so that the campaign proves sustainable and successful.

Managing Director PHA Dilawar Khan briefed the participants about the availability of saplings of different varieties and sizes and assured full cooperation to achieve the targets of the plantation campaign.
