FDA intensifies crackdown on residential buildings' commercial use

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has intensified a crackdown on illegal commercial use of properties in residential colonies under its administrative control.

An FDA spokesman said here on Friday that the enforcement teams had been made more active in the field to identify individuals using residential properties for commercial purposes without approval so that they could be brought within the ambit of law for ensuring prevention of losses to the national exchequer.

In this connection, Director Town Planning-I Afnan Saeed Sandhu, along with relevant officials, visited various residential colonies and conducted a detailed review of multiple cases related to property commercialization.

On this occasion, Deputy Director Town Planning Raheel Zafar and other staff members accompanied him.

During the inspection, with the help of maps and official records, two residential plots in Millat Town were identified as being used for commercial purposes without approval.

Notices have been issued by the FDA to the owners of these properties, directing them to immediately obtain formal commercialization approval and deposit the prescribed dues, he added.

He said that the property owners were warned to refrain from illegal commercial use of their properties because continuous violations may result in heavy fines, sealing of properties, demolition of illegal constructions, and in cases of serious violations, criminal proceedings may also be initiated.
