FCCP grants interim bail to accused in shop affectees case

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) The Federal Constitutional Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to accused Yousaf Ahad Malik until the next hearing in the shop affectees case and directed that efforts be made to resolve the matter with the affectees through mutual consultation.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Aamir Farooq heard the case.

During the hearing, Justice Arshad Hussain Shah remarked that it would be better to settle the matter with the affectees as they had invested their money in good faith.

Counsel for the accused informed the court that his client was willing to pay the amount to the affectees; however, the affectees were demanding the return of the shops.

The counsel said out of the total allottees, around 600 were satisfied while only 84 affectees had complaints.

He stated that if the court granted time, his client was ready to sit with the affectees and try to resolve the issue. The counsel also requested the court to grant bail to his client until the next hearing.

Justice Aamir Farooq asked whether the accused feared arrest, to which the counsel replied that raids had been conducted three times to arrest his client.

The court issued notices to National Accountability Bureau and the Prosecutor Punjab and adjourned further hearing of the case until March 30.
