FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2026) President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) Farooq Yousaf Sheikh said that a major urban infrastructure initiative to remodel Samundri Road into a signal-free corridor and construct a 5.50-kilometer-long underpass from Novelty Bridge to D-Type Chowk with an estimated cost of Rs3.191 billion is set to transform traffic flow in Faisalabad.
In a statement here on Saturday, he expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz and Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen for launching work on the mega project, terming it a long-awaited step towards easing congestion on one of the city’s busiest arteries.
He said that the project would be completed within approximately one year and it would significantly improve vehicular movement, reduce travel time and facilitate business activities across the city.
Highlighting complementary development works, he said that Municipal Corporation would also undertake restoration of historic Clock Tower and upgrade facilities in Jhang Bazaar at a cost of Rs399.02 million while Rs203.67 million would be spent on development works in Aminpur Bazaar.
These initiatives would not only enhance infrastructure of the city but also boost commercial activity and provide better facilities to traders and citizens alike, he added.
