LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-May 20th, 2026) Pakistan opening batters Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub have been ruled out of the upcoming three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia due to injuries, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday.

The PCB said that both players are currently undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of the board’s medical panel and will not be available for selection for the series, which is scheduled to begin on May 30 during Australia’s tour of Pakistan.

The board said the two cricketers have been advised to continue their recovery programmes and expressed hope for their early return to competitive cricket.

The PCB added that further updates regarding the national squad and players’ fitness status will be shared later.

The ODI series will commence with the opening match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on May 30.

The remaining two matches will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on June 2 and June 4. All matches are scheduled to begin at 4:30pm local time.

The series marks Australia’s return to Pakistan for a bilateral ODI assignment since the 2022 tour, when Pakistan secured a 2-1 series victory over the visitors.

Earlier this year, Pakistan also hosted Australia for a T20 International series in Lahore, where the home side completed a 3-0 clean sweep.
