Faisalabad records sharp decline in crime

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2026) Faisalabad has witnessed a remarkable improvement in law & order during the current year, with overall crime dropping by 63 percent compared to the corresponding period last year which reflected the success of an effective policing strategy, strengthened patrol mechanisms and intelligence-led operations spearheaded by City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain.

A police spokesman said on Saturday that the significant reduction in crime has been achieved through modern policing techniques, timely action against criminal elements, enhanced patrolling, effective picketing and indiscriminate operations against offenders across the district.

He said that comprehensive strategy has substantially improved public safety and reinforced citizens' confidence in the law enforcement system.

Giving some statistics, he said that murder cases declined by 40 percent during the current year compared to the same period last year while attempted murder incidents registered 45 percent decrease.

Similarly, dacoity-cum-murder cases dropped by 50 percent whereas incidents of dacoity and robbery declined by 66 percent and 64 percent respectively, indicating a marked improvement in the district's security situation, he added.

He also highlighted a substantial reduction in vehicle-related crimes and said that incidents of snatching of other vehicles fell by 60 percent, car snatching by 50 percent and motorcycle snatching by 66 percent. Likewise, theft of other vehicles decreased by 54 percent, car theft by 72 percent and motorcycle theft by 63 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year, he added.
