Faisalabad fast-tracks industry relocation to curb pollution: commissioner

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Madam Musarrat Jabeen said that the district administration, in a decisive move to shield citizens from rising air and water pollution, has accelerated the plan to relocate industries outside city limits, with a high-level committee reviewing progress and resolving to fast-track the transition to designated industrial zones.

She was presiding over a meeting of District Industrial Relocation Committee (DIRC) held at the office of Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC).

Director General (DG) Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Chaudhary, DO Industries Muhammad Irfan, Deputy Director Environment Usman Azhar and representatives of the business community were also present in the meeting and they reviewed progress made so far on the phased relocation of industries from urban areas to planned industrial estates.

The officials briefed the participants about key developments, challenges and timelines associated with shifting industrial units, emphasizing that the initiative is crucial for reducing environmental hazards and improving public health in densely populated localities.

Speaking on the occasion, the divisional commissioner underscored that the relocation plan was being implemented in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for citizens.

The committee unanimously agreed to expedite all pending matters related to industrial relocation and remove bottlenecks hindering the process.

It was decided that coordination among relevant departments would be further strengthened to ensure smooth and timely execution of the plan.

The participants also highlighted the importance of facilitating industrialists during the transition phase, ensuring availability of infrastructure and utilities in industrial zones so that business activities continue without disruption.

The meeting concluded with a firm resolve to accelerate the relocation drive, terming it a vital step towards sustainable urban development and environmental protection in Faisalabad.
