Extension granted to private education institutions for registration, stakeholders laud PEIRA move

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) Private educational institutions in Islamabad have been granted an additional two-month extension for registration and renewal purposes. The decision was announced following a meeting between the Chairman of the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA), Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, and representatives of private educational associations.

The meeting was attended by the All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association, along with other private associations. During the session, it was decided to provide a two-month extension to unregistered private educational institutions and those that had not completed their registration renewals on time.

Dr Abrar Hussain Malik, Central President of the All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association, expressed his gratitude to the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority's (PEIRA) Chairman for approving the extension.

He stated that private educational institutions are playing an active role in improving literacy rates across the country. He added that the extension will facilitate schools that were unable to complete their registration or renewal in time and will also help PEIRA achieve its regulatory objectives.

He further said that private educational institutions in Islamabad are fully cooperating with PEIRA to ensure quality education. He also thanked senior officials of the Ministry of Education, including PEIRA Chairman Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, for understanding the concerns of private schools and working towards resolving their issues.
