PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa foiled a major drug smuggling attempt in Peshawar, recovering over 19 kilograms of hashish and arresting the accused during a targeted operation.
According to official details, the Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation Squad, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid at Northern Bypass, Peshawar. A vehicle bearing registration number LWH-2020 was intercepted and searched, leading to the recovery of 19,200 grams of hashish.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Provincial Incharge Akif Nawaz Khan and led by Inspector Muhammad Riaz, Incharge Excise Intelligence Squad, along with Dawood Khan and other personnel.
The accused, identified as Naimat Shah son of Zahir Shah, a resident of Nasapa Tapo Korona Bakhshi Pul, was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against him at the Excise Police Station Peshawar Region, while further investigation is underway.
The crackdown is part of the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics. Acting on the directives of Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, the department has intensified operations across the province.
