Excise department foils smuggling bid, recovers 24kg charas

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, foiled a smuggling attempt on the motorway service road near Peshawar, recovering 24 kilograms of charas from a car and registering a case against the suspect.

The operation was carried out under the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to details received from department, the raid was conducted by the Special Squad of Excise Intelligence on the basis of a tip-off and was supervised by Saud Khan Gandapur, Provincial In-charge Excise Intelligence and Majid Khan, Excise and Taxation Officer Counter Narcotics Operations.

The special squad was led by Waheed Akbar Khan, Inspector, Excise Intelligence Bureau.

During the search of a suspected vehicle bearing registration number ACJ-206, officials recovered 24,000 grams (24 kilograms) of charas.The timely action prevented a major attempt to transport narcotics, the department said.

An FIR has been registered at the Excise Police Station, Peshawar Region and further legal proceedings and investigation are under way.

The department reiterated that indiscriminate and sustained operations against drug trafficking would continue across the province under the government’s zero-tolerance policy.
