ETPB marks Maharaja Ranjit Singh's 187th death anniversary at Gurdwara Dera Sahib

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jun, 2026) The Evacuee Trust Property board (ETPB) on Monday organized the central ceremony marking the 187th death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Lahore, with participation of Sikh pilgrims from India and other countries, officials of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC), ETPB officers and other dignitaries.

ETPB Secretary Nasir Mushtaq attended the ceremony as the chief guest. PSGPC President Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Secretary General Satwant Kaur, Professor Mampal Singh and other committee members were also present.

Addressing the ceremony, ETPB Secretary Nasir Mushtaq said that comprehensive arrangements had been made for Sikh pilgrims, including accommodation, langar, transportation, medical facilities, medical camps, ambulance services and emergency healthcare.

He said the anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh symbolized mutual respect, religious tolerance and the shared cultural heritage of the region. He added that Sikhs from across the world were welcome to visit Pakistan at any time, assuring them that the government of Pakistan and the ETPB would continue to extend every possible facility and hospitality.

Speaking on the occasion, PSGPC President Sardar Ramesh Singh appreciated the ETPB, district administration and PSGPC members for their exemplary arrangements and hospitality extended to Sikh pilgrims.

He said the Sikh community was a source of pride for Pakistan and that pilgrims from India and other countries returned with a message of peace, love and interfaith harmony.

He also urged the Sikh community to play its role in the early restoration of the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur Corridor.

Indian Sikh pilgrims expressed satisfaction over the facilities provided during their stay in Pakistan and appreciated the maintenance, cleanliness and renovation of Gurdwaras.

Pilgrim Harjinder Kaur said the Gurdwaras in Pakistan were now more beautiful and better maintained than before. Jatha leader Khushwinder Singh praised the arrangements for accommodation, langar, transportation and medical services, while pilgrim Harwinder Singh described the ETPB's arrangements as exemplary.

The Indian Sikh pilgrims, who arrived to participate in the 187th death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, would conclude their 10-day religious visit and return to India through the Wagah Border on June 30. Secretary ETPB Nasir Mushtaq would see them off at the border.
