MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) A meeting of the Divisional Environmental Committee, held here Wednesday with commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan in the chair, discussed total 38 cases, rejecting 17 of them and granting approval to 21 business plans.
The environment department presented a total of 38 cases for review and thoroughly scrutinised all of them.
The commissioner stated that no case was pending and all submissions were being reviewed regularly. He made it clear that no proposal would be approved without complete documentation and that environmental protection would be ensured at all costs.
The committee made plantation mandatory along with approvals for commercial and warehouse projects.
Aamir Kareem directed that at least six-foot-tall trees must be planted in all approved schemes, and their maintenance would be the responsibility of the institutions concerned. He added that copies of all approvals would be shared with the Parks and Horticulture Authority, which would conduct regular monitoring and inspection of the plantation.
He stated that environmental no objection certificates (NOCs) would be issued for three years, and plantation inspection would be compulsory at the time of renewal.
Any NOC would not be renewed without certification from the Parks and Horticulture Authority. The commissioner stressed that afforestation was indispensable to address the challenges of climate change.
