LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Friday visited the under-construction Jinnah Institute of Cardiology Lahore to review the pace of ongoing development work.
The provincial minister was given a detailed briefing on the progress of the project. Maira Ali from the executing agency IDAP and the contractors informed him about various aspects of construction and implementation.
Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the emergency and OPD of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology will be opened for the public very soon, Insha Allah. He stated that the Punjab government is constructing a state-of-the-art cardiology institute in Lahore at a cost exceeding Rs 15 billion.
He said that international-standard medical facilities will be provided to patients at the institution. All relevant departments, including IDAP, are working day and night to ensure timely completion of the project. He expressed hope that the cardiology hospital would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The minister added that thousands of heart patients from across Punjab will benefit from the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology Lahore. The Punjab government is striving to enhance treatment and care facilities for patients suffering from heart diseases and to provide the best possible medical services at their doorstep.
He further said that patients visiting the hospital will be provided with the best surgeons, modern operation theatres, and comprehensive treatment and care facilities.
Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical education Department Azmat Mahmud accompanied the minister. Health Economist Dr. Muhammad Adnan Khan, Chairman Punjab Chief Minister Advisory Committee on Cardiology Dr. Farqad Alamgir, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof. Tayyaba Waseem, and Additional Secretary Technical Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Waseem were also present on the occasion.
