Emergency arrangements completed for Muharram in Gujrat

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has completed emergency arrangements across the district to ensure the peaceful and safe conduct of Majalis and mourning processions on the 8th of Muharram-ul-Haram.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, a total of 33 events, including 27 Majalis and six processions, are being held in Gujrat, Kharian and Sarai Alamgir tehsils.

More than 10,670 mourners are expected to participate in these gatherings.

To provide emergency medical assistance and ensure public safety, Rescue 1122 has deployed 312 personnel, 32 volunteers, 33 emergency vehicles and 45 motorbike response units at various locations.

Officials said all leaves of Rescue 1122 staff had been cancelled and teams were on high alert. On the directions of District Emergency Officer Umar Akbar Ali Ghuman, rescue activities are being monitored through the central control room.
