National Electric Power Regulatory Authority is scheduled to hear petition on Tuesday (tomorrow)
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 29th, 2026) The electricity consumers across Pakistan, including Karachi, may face an increase of Rs0.82 per unit in power tariffs after the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism.
NEPRA is scheduled to hear the petition on Tuesday. If approved, the proposed increase is expected to place an additional financial burden of nearly Rs12 billion on electricity consumers.

<?php /*?> <?php */?>638 billion units of electricity were generated during May, with the average fuel cost recorded at Rs9.25 per unit, compared with the reference fuel cost of Rs8.43 per unit.
The generation mix for May comprised 33.27 per cent hydropower, 11.66 per cent electricity generated from local coal, 13.54 per cent from imported coal, 0.16 per cent from furnace oil, and 8.31 per cent from local natural gas.
NEPRA will review the data submitted by the CPPA before issuing its decision on the proposed fuel cost adjustment.
