Electric Bus Service launched in Toba Tek Singh as Eid Gift, fare fixed at Rs20 per stop

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) An eco-friendly electric bus service has been launched for the people of Toba Tek Singh as a special Eidul Fitr gift from Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz to introduce modern, comfortable and affordable transport facilities in the district.

Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan formally inaugurated the bus service at its depot established on Gojra Bypass and said that 15 electric buses were launched on two routes including Toba Tek Singh to Gojra and Toba Tek Singh to Kamalia for offering travel at a subsidized fare of just Rs20 per stop.

This initiative would provide safe, convenient, and environmentally friendly commuting options of the residents of this area, he added.

The minister also traveled on the bus from the depot to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Toba Tek Singh to mark the launch.

Speaking on the occasion, he termed the electric bus service a “big Eid gift” for the residents of Toba Tek Singh and said that the government is committed to expanding such facility across Punjab.

He also announced that similar buses would also be provided for Toba Tek Singh to Pir Mahal route soon to further enhance connectivity.

A large number of people gathered along both sides of the road to welcome the initiative, showering petals on the buses and chanting slogans in support of the Chief Minister.

The public response reflected public appreciation for the introduction of modern transport facilities in the area.

The citizens expressed joy over witnessing electric buses in their city, calling the initiative a significant step towards improved urban transport and environmental sustainability.

Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Toba Tek Singh Umar Abbas Mela, public representatives and leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) were also present on the occasion.
