Eight cattle markets established ahead of Eid ul Azha in city

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Religious festivity of Eid ul Azha has started in the city as eight temporary cattle markets and sales points across the district have been established for the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals.

The markets are established at Bhatta Chowk in Rawalpindi Cantonment, Ranyal, near Fatima Jinnah University Chakri Road, and a plot near Police Station Rawat on GT Road in Rawalpindi tehsil.

In Gujar Khan, a cattle mandi has been established near the slaughterhouse on Gulyana Road, while in Wah Cantt, a site has been designated near Sharif Hospital Stop on GT Road. Another point has been set up near the Sunday Bazaar Timber Market in Taxila.

Similarly, a cattle sale point has been established at Bypass Chowk in Kallar Syedan, while in Kahuta, a market has been set up at Sakhi Sabzwari on Tangi Road.

Citizens are visiting the markets with a slow pace, which is expected to gain momentum during the days to come.

The administrative control of these markets/ sales point has been assigned to relevant municipal bodies, cantonment boards, and district authorities, while Assistant Commissioners concerned will supervise arrangements.

The notification in this regard has already issued directing all Assistant Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers of Municipal Committees and Cantonment Boards. Special focus has been put on hygienic environment in accordance with guidelines issued by the Punjab government.
