Eidul Fitr to be celebrated across Gilgit-Baltistan on Mar 21 amid tight security

GILGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Mar, 2026) Like the rest of the country Eidul Fitr will be celebrated across all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday with religious zeal and fervour. More than a hundred congregations are expected to be held across the region where thousands of Muslim will offer Eid prayers and pray for peace, prosperity and stability in the country.

According to the district administration, the main congregation in Gilgit will be held at the Eidgah in Konodas under the auspices of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat, where Eid prayers will be offered at 8 am. Another major congregation will take place at the Jutial Imamia Eidgah where a large number of faithful are expected to attend.

Authorities said comprehensive security arrangements have been finalised for the occasion. Personnel of police and other law enforcement agencies will be deployed at all Eidgahs, mosques, imambargahs and other sensitive locations across the region.

Strict monitoring of entry and exit points has been ensured, with additional security deployed in sensitive areas.

According to district police Gilgit surveillance through CCTV cameras has been enhanced, while control rooms have been made fully operational to respond swiftly to any emergency situation. Rescue 1122 and health department staff have also been placed on high alert, with emergency services fully activated.

The administration has urged citizens to reach prayer venues on time, cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration of Eidul Fitr.
