Eid-ul-Azha preparations see women crowding grocery stores for spices & essentials

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) Grocery stores are witnessing a noticeable rush of women shoppers buying spices and essential items as Eid preparations gain momentum, with traditional kitchens coming alive once again as families stock up on ingredients for festive meals and celebrations.

As in previous years, this Eid-ul-Azha season has once again brought increased activity to grocery stores, where women are actively purchasing spices and essential cooking items as preparations for traditional festive meals gather momentum across households.

Two women shoppers said that both ready-made spice mixes and traditional whole spices are in high demand this year, as people prefer convenience along with authentic taste for Eid dishes. They added that grocery stores are well-stocked, making it easier for families to complete their shopping without difficulty.

Grocery stores in Islamabad are also witnessing a noticeable increase in customer flow as Eid-ul-Azha preparations continue, with workers reporting steady sales of spices, ready-made masalas and other essential cooking items as households prepare for traditional festive meals.

Store workers further claimed that demand has risen for both packaged spice mixes and traditional whole spices, as many customers prefer a combination of convenience and authentic flavor during Eid shopping, keeping shops busy throughout the day.

Two customers said that ready-made spice mixes are becoming a preferred choice as they make cooking easier and help in quickly preparing a variety of meat dishes at home with consistent taste and flavor.

Another customer added that she still prefers whole spices from local shops, saying they bring a richer aroma and more traditional taste when used in homemade meat-based dishes and family cooking.

A young lady at grocery commended that while men are busy bargaining for sacrificial animals, women are equally occupied with household shopping, managing grocery purchases and other essential items needed for cooking and preparations at home.

A man said that there is no doubt that the purchase of groceries and essential items increases ahead of Eid, as families prepare for traditional meals and household needs during the festive period.
