Eid celebration brings joy to vulnerable children in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) More than 200 vulnerable and deserving children participated in a special Eid celebration organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission to share the joy and spirit of Eid ul Azha in Peshawar.

Children from the Zamung Kor Model Institute for State Children and the Special education Complex took part in the event, which featured cultural performances, skits, gymnastics and child protection-themed presentations aimed at promoting inclusion and care for vulnerable children.

Secretary Social Welfare Shareef Hussain attended the ceremony as chief guest, while Director Zamung Kor Noor Zar Ali, teachers, staff members and child welfare officials were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Child Protection KP Ijaz Muhammad Khan said the provincial government was committed to ensuring a safe and protective environment for children across the province.

He said the network of Child Protection Units was being expanded, adding that the chief minister had approved the establishment of units in five more districts to further strengthen child protection mechanisms.

He also appreciated the continued support of UNICEF in promoting child welfare initiatives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing the gathering, Shareef Hussain said initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable children were essential for promoting compassion and social inclusion.

He said a significant portion of the upcoming provincial budget would be allocated for child protection programmes, enabling the expansion of services to 25 districts.

The event concluded with the distribution of Eid gifts among the children, adding to their excitement ahead of the festive occasion.
