Education vital for national development, says Attock CEO Education

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority Dr. Muhammad Azhar has termed education a cornerstone of national development, saying it enlightens human consciousness, shapes character, and paves the way for social progress and prosperity.

In an exclusive interview with APP at his office in Attock on Wednesday, Dr. Azhar said education remained the most valuable asset for any society, as it not only refined individual personalities but also strengthened the foundations of a progressive nation. Educational heads from various tehsils of the district were also present during the interaction.

Speaking about the outsourcing policy for public schools, he said that over the past two years, 364 government schools in the district had been handed over to the Punjab Education Foundation for management through non-governmental organizations and other eligible operators.

He clarified that students would continue to receive free education and textbooks, while operators were being provided financial assistance ranging from Rs.1,200 to Rs.1,500 per student to manage operational expenses.

Dr. Azhar further stated that the outsourced institutions continued to function under the supervision of the school Education Department, Government of Punjab. He noted that the policy had helped address the shortage of teachers, particularly in remote areas, without affecting the services of teachers or Class-IV employees, who had been adjusted in other schools. Highlighting ongoing reforms, he said the government under Maryam Nawaz had allocated Rs.20 billion for the education sector in Attock district during the current fiscal year, benefiting both serving and retired education employees.
