ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) Federal Minister for education and Professional Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui inaugurated the National Book Museum established by the National Book Foundation in Islamabad, highlighting its importance in promoting book culture and literary awareness among the younger generation.
Member of the National Assembly Raja Qamar Ul islam was also present at the ceremony.
The event was attended by Managing Director of the National Book Foundation Dr Kamran Jahangir, NBF Secretary Khan Farhan Riffat, Director Headquarters Murad Ali Mohmand and other officials of the foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said the National Book Foundation had successfully revamped the National Book Museum at a high standard.
He remarked that the museum would play a significant role in highlighting the importance and usefulness of books from their historical beginnings to the requirements of the modern age.
The minister said the rare and valuable book-related exhibits displayed at the museum were not only an asset of the National Book Foundation but also a national treasure for Pakistan that would guide future generations.
He appreciated various sections of the museum, including the Holy Quran corner, Sufi corner, statues of renowned poets and writers, and displays featuring wood and stone samples associated with books.

The federal minister also visited the National Book Shop and Textbook Shop, where he discussed the importance of books and educational curricula.
MNA Raja Qamar ul Islam praised the museum, saying several innovative additions had made it highly attractive and engaging for literature enthusiasts and readers.
During a briefing, Dr Kamran Jahangir described the National Book Museum as a fascinating symbol of wisdom and wonder. He said the museum featured rare and ancient copies of the Holy Quran, exquisite calligraphy samples, corners dedicated to prominent personalities, displays of books, sections on Pakistani languages, and golden statues of national literary icons including Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Hafeez Jalandhari, Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi and Saadat Hasan Manto.
He added that miniature trucks and trains loaded with books, framed Quranic manuscripts, a pillar of autographs, and office tables creatively designed from books were among the attractions aimed at inspiring visitors with knowledge and wisdom.
Dr Kamran Jahangir said all artistic work for the museum had been completed in a short period by renowned Pakistani artist Azeem Iqbal in line with the vision of the National Book Foundation.
