Drug trafficker handed 20-year jail term in Attock

ATTOCK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Mar, 2026) A local court in Attock on Monday sentenced a convicted drug trafficker to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment, alongside a hefty fine of Rs 800,000.

According to official sources, the Attock Khurd Police Station apprehended the accused, Minhas Shah — a resident of Haripur — during routine checking.

Officers recovered 10.6 kilograms of narcotics from his possession, prompting the immediate registration of a case. Subsequently, police completed the investigation and submitted a comprehensive challan before the court.

After the conclusion of trial proceedings, Muhammad Asif, serving as Additional Sessions Judge Attock, delivered the judgment in case No. 45/2025. The court awarded the convict 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs800,000.

Police officials termed the ruling a reflection of sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking in the district, reaffirming their resolve to pursue narcotics cases through to conviction.
