A local court in Chiniot on Tuesday sentenced a drug dealer to 10 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs125,000 after convicting him in a heroin trafficking case registered by Thana Sadar police

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th May, 2026) A local court in Chiniot on Tuesday sentenced a drug dealer to 10 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs125,000 after convicting him in a heroin trafficking case registered by Thana Sadar police.

District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Naeem Sheikh announced the verdict in the narcotics case against Ali Hassan, who was arrested by Thana Sadar police following the recovery of 1.2 kilograms of heroin from his possession. A case had been registered against the accused under relevant narcotics laws.

District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif said the conviction reflected the police department’s commitment to ensuring strong investigations and effective presentation of evidence before courts to secure punishment for drug traffickers.

He added that police were continuing a district-wide crackdown against narcotics dealers alongside awareness campaigns aimed at protecting youth from drug abuse. The DPO said practical measures were being taken to eliminate drugs from society and secure a safer future for the younger generation.
