Drive launched to convert idle parks into sports grounds

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Mar, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar has initiated a comprehensive drive to convert non-functional parks into sports grounds to promote healthy activities among youth.

In a statement here on Thursday, he said that practical steps were being taken at a fast pace to transform 10 underutilized parks across the city into sports grounds. This project would provide quality sports facilities to young people and encourage positive engagement in physical activities, he added.

He said that development work has commenced at Noor Pur Park where extensive cleanliness operations are underway.

The teams of Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) have removed heaps of garbage while leveling work of the ground is also in progress to make it suitable for sports activities, he added.

He emphasized that the initiative would not only improve the urban environment but also help nurture talent by offering accessible and well-maintained spaces for recreational and competitive sports.
