Dr Abdul Rauf Rafiqui awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz for scholarly, literary services

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) Iqbal academy Pakistan Director Dr Abdul Rauf Rafiqui has been conferred the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his outstanding scholarly, literary and contributions to Allama Iqbal studies.

The award was presented by Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan during a civil awards investiture ceremony held at the Governor’s House, Lahore. The ceremony was attended by senior civil servants, law enforcement officials and personalities from various walks of life.

Dr Rafiqui is widely regarded as a leading contemporary scholar on Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s thought and philosophy. Over the years, he has actively contributed to literature, research and cultural scholarship, authoring more than 60 books and numerous research papers in urdu and regional literary traditions.

He has also served at several academic and literary institutions in key positions, contributing to the strengthening of research culture, institutional scholarship and literary discourse in the country.

The conferment of Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is being viewed as recognition of his decades-long academic dedication and intellectual services to literature and Iqbal Studies.

Scholarly and literary circles, particularly from Balochistan, welcomed the honour, describing it as a matter of pride for the province and the broader literary community. They said the recognition would encourage young researchers and writers to pursue serious academic work with greater commitment.
