DPM Dar reviews federal govt's austerity, conservative measures

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures.

The deputy prime minister reviewed the current status of different austerity measures as announced by the government earlier.

He stressed that since international fuel prices were still very high therefore, it was a national duty of everyone including the government that the conservations or austerity measures be followed in true letter and spirit.

He said that for tasks of very important and urgent nature which were hit by the austerity measures, the cases may be brought for consideration of the Cabinet Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures so that essential functions of government are not compromised.

The meeting was attended by the Federal ministers for petroleum, information technology and telecom, and climate change, minister of state for finance, secretaries of commerce, petroleum, culture and heritage, Cabinet and Establishment divisions, and other relevant stakeholders.
