Dozens shops sealed, FIRs registered for violating official price mechanism

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) The district administration on Thursday sealed more than two dozen shops for violating the official price mechanism.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Commissioners, enforcement teams across various markets. The shops were sealed for three days, and First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered against the owners at the relevant police stations.

According to the official spokesperson here, in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the district administration intensified its price control operations during the holy month of Ramadan.

Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry stated that ensuring the availability of essential commodities at government-notified prices remains the administration’s top priority.

He emphasized that strict action was being taken against profiteering, hoarding, artificial shortages, and under-weighing.

“There will be no leniency for those involved in overcharging or unlawful profiteering,” the Deputy Commissioner said, warning that violators could also face imprisonment.
