Domestic worker held for jewelry theft

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2026) Police arrested a woman domestic worker on the charge of stealing gold jewelry

worth more than Rs10 million from a house and recovered stolen ornaments from

her possession.

Police said here on Tuesday that two women had secured employment

at a house under the pretext of working as domestic helpers.

During their stay, they allegedly conducted a thorough reconnaissance

of the premises and monitored the family's routine to identify an opportunity

for theft.

The accused allegedly fled with gold jewelry worth more than Rs10 million

after gaining confidence of the household and finding a suitable opportunity.

Acting on technical and human intelligence, Station House Officer (SHO)

Nishatabad police station Sajid Mahmood led a successful operation and

arrested the prime accused identified as Mafia Bibi.

On her identification, the police recovered stolen gold jewelry worth approximately

Rs9 million while raids were underway to arrest the absconding accomplice.

Commenting on the case, City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain urged

the citizens to ensure police verification of all domestic workers before employing

them, describing the measure as essential for preventing theft and other crimes.

He advised the public to register all domestic servants, both male and female,

with the relevant police station and complete the mandatory verification process

before hiring them.

Public cooperation was vital for improving community safety and crime prevention,

he added.
