Divisional SPs inspect Muharram security arrangements across Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jun, 2026) On the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, divisional Superintendents of Police (SPs) conducted inspections of security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram processions and religious gatherings across Rawalpindi.

During the visits, the divisional SPs reviewed security measures in place and issued necessary instructions to field officers to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of Muharram events.

Officials emphasized that participants would only be allowed to enter processions through designated entry points after undergoing thorough body searches.

They further directed that all religious gatherings and processions adhere strictly to the approved schedules, routes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The SPs stated that procession routes are being continuously monitored through Safe City cameras, while implementation of SOPs issued by the Punjab government is being ensured in letter and spirit.

To enhance security, streets, roads, and access points along procession routes will completely be sealed, where required.

Police officials said all available resources are being utilized to maintain law and order and ensure a peaceful atmosphere during Muharram-ul-Haram.
