Distt Admin reviews governance measures, supports farmers, monitors market prices

LOWER DIR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) In line with provincial government directives, the District Coordination Committee on Thursday held a meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Arif Khan.

The forum was briefed in detail on the progress of various tasks being carried out by line departments across the district.

The meeting reviewed actions against non-custom-paid vehicles, illegal tinted glasses and fake number plates, electricity theft and outstanding dues, narcotics, professional beggars, unregistered food warehouses, illegal petrol pumps, implementation of OGRA rates, smuggling, forest cutting, registration of madrassas, illegal mining, illegal weapons, and undocumented immigrants.

The DC directed all stakeholders to further improve their performance in the coming month and emphasized the early completion of profiling of non-custom-paid vehicles, warning that legal action would be taken against owners who fail to comply.

He also appreciated departments that showed good performance on key indicators.

Meanwhile, under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Good Governance Roadmap, the District Administration and the District Agriculture Department conducted extension meetings with wheat growers at various locations in Tehsil Maidan.

Farmers were guided on weed management, proper use of fertilizers, and timely control of wheat diseases such as yellow rust, smut, and other threats, including aphid attacks.

The Agriculture Department advised farmers to remain especially vigilant after February 20, as the month of March is critical for pest and disease control in wheat crops.

Later, on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner, Additional Assistant Commissioner Samar Bagh, along with District Food Controller Kashif Ehsan and representatives of the Agriculture Department, visited the Timergara vegetable and fruit market.

The officials monitored the auction process to ensure transparency and subsequently issued a new official price list for vegetables and fruits.

Traders were strictly instructed to adhere to the notified rates and avoid overcharging.
