District Sports Department kicks off Ramazan night badminton championship

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry, the District Sports Department on Friday formally inaugurated the Badminton Championship as part of the ongoing Ramazan Night Sports Festival.

The District Public Prosecutor Malik Amir Shehzad attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest, where he was received by District Sports Officer Madam Saima Manzoor and presented with a floral bouquet.

Malik Amir Shehzad said that promoting sports is essential to engage youth in healthy activities and foster positive trends in society. He stated that events like the Ramazan Night Sports Festival provide an excellent platform for youngsters to showcase their potential and talent.

The District Public Prosecutor also commended the efforts of District Sports Officer Saima Manzoor, noting that her dedication has revitalized sports activities in the district and provided a better environment for local athletes.

Former international badminton player Tayyab Bashir, who has represented Pakistan in international competitions in Sri Lanka and Malaysia, also participated in the event. He encouraged the participants by stating that hard work and consistency are the keys to success and that such events play a vital role in discovering new talent.

A large number of players from different clubs participated in the championship, which drew significant interest from sports enthusiasts.

The festival would continue with more sports competitions scheduled for the coming days.

Tehsil Sports Officers Shehryar Sial and Azmat Iqbal, along with Muntaha Malik and Sheikh Umar Farooq, were also present during the ceremony.
