District peace committee reviewed Muharram preparations

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jun, 2026) The district peace committee reviewed arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram and stressed

the importance of inter-sect harmony during a special meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's

Office on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting, Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) members Dr Aziz Mahmood Alvi of Karachi and Prof Dr Abdul Ghafoor Rashid of Lahore urged religious scholars to promote brotherhood, unity and tolerance, saying these values were essential for maintaining lasting peace in society.

Presiding over the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Naeem Bashir said Sialkot enjoys exemplary religious harmony and that the district administration had made comprehensive security arrangements for Muharram in close coordination with the District Peace Committee.

Representatives of the district administration, police and religious scholars from different schools of thought attended the meeting, which concluded with special prayers for the country's peace, stability and prosperity.
