District Coordination Committee reviews security situation; stresses action against illegal activities

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has said that the district administration, in coordination with all relevant institutions, is taking effective measures to maintain law and order, eliminate illegal activities, and ensure the protection of life and property across the district.

He warned that indiscriminate action against narcotics, illegal weapons, hoarding, illegal SIMs, and other crimes would continue without discrimination.

DC expressed these views while chairing an important meeting of the District Coordination Committee attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies, district administration, and other relevant departments in Abbottabad.

The meeting reviewed progress on various points of the National Action Plan and Provincial Action Plan, with detailed discussions held on counter-terrorism measures, monitoring of social media and cyberspace, action against hate material, prevention of drug trafficking, and operations against illegal weapons and illegal spectrum usage.

The forum directed authorities to hold meetings with religious scholars before Eid to prevent misuse of loudspeakers, promote religious harmony, and ensure strict implementation of the code of conduct.

Participants also reviewed madrassa reforms and the registration process of seminaries. Relevant departments were instructed to ensure early registration of unregistered madrassas and maintain updated records.

The committee discussed anti-hoarding operations, campaigns against drug use in educational institutions, prevention of timber smuggling, establishment of joint checkpoints, action against illegal SIMs, and operations against petrol pumps selling fuel in unauthorized containers.

Concern also expressed over the growing trend of online gambling and illegal websites. Authorities were directed to take immediate steps to protect youth from such activities and initiate action against illegal online platforms.

The meeting further reviewed the government’s plan regarding the repatriation of illegal immigrants, prevention of fake document usage, traffic law enforcement, removal of encroachments, and action against illegal petrol pumps, crusher plants, and other unlawful business activities.
