ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) The district administration on Thursday initiated action against several tailors in Qalandarabad Bazaar for failing to display the officially approved stitching rate list, following public complaints about consumer rights violations.
The inspection was carried out by the Industrial Development Officer Abbottabad under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram and the Director General Industries and Commerce Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The action was conducted in collaboration with the Tailors Association and the Consumer Protection Department to ensure implementation of officially notified stitching rates for the convenience of citizens.
During the inspection of multiple tailor shops in Qalandarabad Bazaar, it was found that none of the shops had displayed the government-approved rate list, which constitutes a violation of consumer protection laws.
Authorities said the operation was launched after receiving public complaints regarding the non-display of rate lists and other consumer-related violations.
Summons have been issued to the shopkeepers involved, directing them to appear before the Consumer Protection Office for further legal proceedings. Officials said the action has been taken under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Consumer Protection Act 1997.
