District administration prioritizing public protection and drainage upgrades: DC Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has said that the district administration is working in close coordination with all relevant departments to protect the lives and property of citizens, improve the sewerage and drainage system, and eliminate encroachments, warning that no negligence or laxity in this regard will be tolerated.

The Deputy Commissioner made these remarks while leading a detailed inspection of various locations across Abbottabad city as part of the Provincial Government's Good Governance Roadmap and District Service Delivery initiative aimed at preventing flash floods, improving sewerage infrastructure, cleaning drainage channels, and removing encroachments.

During the visit, DC Abbottabad, accompanied by Chairman District Reconciliation Committee (DRC) Ayaz Saleem Rana, Additional Deputy Commissioner Relief Amanullah Saeed, Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad Afrasiab Zubair Hundal, representatives of the Cantonment board, Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Irrigation Department, Revenue officials, and other stakeholders, inspected several key locations including Band Khoo Chowk on Link Road, Kehal Chowk, Sena Laboratory, Chinar Road, Hassan Town, Jab Nala, and Mandian Akash Rabbani (Old Missile Chowk).

Officials identified encroachments over drainage channels, sewerage-related issues, water flow obstructions, and critical

choke points that could contribute to urban flooding during heavy rains.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarmad Saleem Akram emphasized that the district administration is taking proactive measures to ensure effective drainage and flood mitigation across the city.

He directed all concerned departments to address the identified issues on a priority basis and reaffirmed that strict action would be taken against any negligence in implementing the necessary preventive measures.
