BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2026) The district administration in Bahawalpur has intensified enforcement actions against overpricing, hoarding, and violations of price control regulations during the holy month of Ramzan.
According to an official report issued by the district administration, large-scale inspections were carried out across multiple tehsils to ensure strict implementation of the Price Control Act and to provide essential commodities to citizens at government-notified rates.
During the latest enforcement drive, Price Control Magistrates conducted a total of 1800 inspections across markets and commercial centers. The inspections resulted in 181 cases of overcharging, while 19 violations were recorded for failure to display official rate lists.
Additionally, 792 other violations of varying nature were identified during monitoring activities. As part of enforcement measures, authorities issued 868 warning notices and imposed fines on 120 individuals. A total of Rs. 189,000 in penalties was collected. Furthermore, six shops were sealed for serious violations, and 16 individuals were arrested for non-compliance with price regulations. The operations were jointly carried out by Assistant Commissioners, Tehsildars, Enforcement Officers, and Price Control Magistrates across Bahawalpur City, Bahawalpur Saddar, Ahmedpur East, Yazman, Hasilpur, and Khairpur Tamewali.
