ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) Heavy rainfall in Abbottabad triggered flash flooding on Thursday, causing the blockage of the Karakoram Highway and several other roads, while floodwater entered houses in low-lying areas, creating difficulties for residents.
According to the district administration, rainwater and overflowing drains inundated various localities, while choke points on roads led to traffic disruptions in different parts of the city.
Authorities said the Cantonment board Abbottabad, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and Rescue 1122 have been directed to continuously monitor drains and water flow and to clear blocked points to prevent further damage.
Officials said monitoring of nullahs and water channels is underway, while teams are working to restore traffic flow and drain accumulated water from affected areas.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid approaching drains or strong water flows during flash floods. In case of any emergency, citizens can contact the District Control Room Abbottabad (0992-9310553) or Rescue 1122 (1122) for assistance.
