SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) The district administration has conducted 26,572 inspections and imposed fines totaling Rs 1,261,500 on profiteers as part of a crackdown against overcharging and hoarding during the holy month of Ramazan.
According to a spokesman for district administration on Wednesday, the operations were carried out under the zero-tolerance policy of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During the inspection process, 355 cases of overcharging were identified, leading to immediate legal action.
Official data showed that 321 shops were sealed, 320 profiteers were arrested, and 37 FIRs were registered for various violations across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhary said that providing relief to the public remains the top priority of the district administration.
He further mentioned that price control magistrates are present in the field to monitor markets on a daily basis, adding that illegal profiteering will not be tolerated and the crackdown would continue without interruption.
