Dist admin accelerates campaign against substandard medicines

The district administration has accelerated its campaign against counterfeit, substandard, and narcotic medicines following special directives issued by the Government of Punjab

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) The district administration has accelerated its campaign against counterfeit, substandard, and narcotic medicines following special directives issued by the Government of Punjab.

A meeting of the District Drug Quality Control board was convened at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddique, where several cases involving medical stores and pharmaceutical companies were reviewed.

During the meeting, strict action was initiated under the Drug Act against those allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of fake and prohibited medicines. More than ten cases were ordered to be forwarded to the Drug Court for further legal proceedings.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nauman Siddique stated that the illegal sale of narcotic and banned injections poses a serious threat to public health and will not be allowed under any circumstances. He warned that violators would face firm legal consequences without exception.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining proper cold chain management and an efficient supply system to ensure citizens receive safe, effective, and quality medicines.

The district administration reaffirmed its resolve to continue decisive operations against illegal pharmaceutical activities and to strengthen regulatory monitoring across Multan to protect public health and safety.
