DIKhan municipal admin intensifies Muharram arrangements, clears procession routes

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2026) The municipal administration in Dera Ismail Khan has intensified preparations for Muharram-ul-Haram by clearing procession routes and undertaking extensive cleanliness and encroachment removal operations across various parts of the city.

Acting on the directives of Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Muhammad Hanif, Tehsil Officer Regulation (TOR) Arman Hussain, along with Encroachment In-charge Fahad Khan Sadozai and their teams, on Sunday carried out inspections of Muharram procession routes within the inner city.

During the operation, construction material, temporary obstacles and other encroachments along the routes were removed to ensure smooth movement of mourners and facilitate effective security arrangements. The administration stated that the clearance drive was aimed at ensuring uninterrupted passage and maintaining public safety during the holy month.

In a separate operation, municipal teams visited Multan Road and the Old Vegetable Market areas, where temporary encroachments along procession routes were removed. The authorities said the initiative was undertaken to prevent any obstruction or untoward incident during the processions and to support security agencies in maintaining law and order.

Meanwhile, under the directions of the TMO, Garden Supervisor Sana Khan Chishti supervised cleanliness and clearance operations on the Muharram procession routes in Dewala and Basti Ustrana.

The municipal teams trimmed tree branches, removed bushes and cleared other obstacles from the routes to ensure smooth movement and eliminate any potential security concerns. The administration reiterated its commitment to continuing the arrangements and providing all necessary civic facilities to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of Muharram processions throughout the district.
