DIG Prisons reviews expansion work at DI Khan Jail

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prisons Tahir Shehbaz has visited the District Central Jail here and reviewed the ongoing development and security arrangements at the facility.

On his arrival, he was received by Superintendent Jail Ijaz Mehsud.

During the visit, the DIG Prisons inspected the old jail premises as well as the under-construction new building. He reviewed the pace and quality of construction work, examined security measures, and assessed the facilities being provided to inmates.

Superintendent Jail Ijaz Mehsud briefed the visiting officer about the ongoing development projects and administrative matters related to the prison.

DIG Prisons Tahir Shehbaz expressed satisfaction over the performance of the jail administration and the progress made on the construction activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Tahir Shehbaz said that providing prisoners with a safe environment, basic facilities, and rehabilitation opportunities remained among the top priorities of the Prison Department.

He added that the completion of the new building would help improve accommodation standards and strengthen the overall administrative system of the jail.

The DIG also visited different barracks, interacted with inmates, listened to their concerns, and issued immediate directives for the resolution of several issues on the spot.
