ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Mar, 2026) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hazara Nasir Mehmood Satti on Tuesday visited the Balakot Hydropower Project and categorically stated that no negligence in security arrangements would be tolerated, directing senior officers to ensure continuous monitoring and strict vigilance at the project site.
During the visit, the DIG conducted a comprehensive review of security arrangements at the project site and the Chinese residential camp. Using drone surveillance, he inspected entry and exit points, sensitive locations, watchtowers, and other key installations. He also examined the security bunker room, control room, and CCTV monitoring system to assess the preparedness of security personnel.
DIG Nasir Mehmood Satti emphasized that ensuring the safety of Chinese experts and staff working on the hydropower project remains a top priority. He instructed officers to carry out regular inspections, strengthen coordination with CCD, Special Branch, and other relevant agencies, and conduct search and strike operations in surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incident.
He further directed that complete data of all workers be maintained with the concerned police station and security officials, while visitor records must be regularly updated and verified. An effective emergency response plan should be prepared, displayed prominently, and communicated to all staff members.
On the occasion, SP SSU Muhammad Abbas briefed the DIG about the existing security measures. The DIG also monitored a mock exercise and issued instructions for further improvement.
Later, the DIG held a meeting with Chinese officials and discussed the progress of the ongoing development project, particularly focusing on security arrangements. The Chinese representatives expressed satisfaction over the security measures provided by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and appreciated the efforts of the Hazara Police.
