DHO urges citizens to seek immediate vaccination in animal bite cases

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) The District Health Officer of Hyderabad Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain has urged the people to immediately vaccinate persons bitten by dogs or other animals by taking them to Anti Rabies Center or to a hospital.

In a statement issued here on Saturday he observed that rabies was a life threatening but curable medical condition if timely medical treatment could be ensured.

He advised the people to wash the wound of a bitten person for 15 minutes with water and soap followed by immediate vaccination.

Hussain apprised that anti rabies vaccines were available 24 hours at RHC Tandojam, Government Hospital Qasimabad, Government Hospital Shah Bhitai, Government Hospital Kohsar, Government Hospital Paretabad, Government Hospital Phuleli and Hazrat Bibi Hospital Latifabad.

According to him, vaccines for the category III bites which were considered more dangerous were available at the hospitals in Liaquat University Hospital, Qasimabad and Latifabad.

The DHO asked the people not to neglect dog bites or a bite by any other animal and to seek immediate medical treatment.
