NSANGHAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) District Health Officer Sanghar, Dr Muhammad Farooq Arain, has said that World Immunization Week was being observed globally from April 24 to April 30 with the aim of ensuring children receive vaccines against 12 life-threatening diseases.

Speaking to the media at the Tando Adam Press Club the other day, he urged parents to take children who had missed routine vaccinations to their nearest health centre without delay so they could receive protective immunisation and be safeguarded against permanent disability and dangerous illnesses.

Dr Arain said that following the death of a young man in Tando Adam due to Congo virus, a health alert had been issued across the district and all relevant departments had been directed to utilise all available resources to prevent further spread.

He added that precautionary measures regarding both Congo virus and monkeypox were extremely important and an awareness campaign was underway to educate the public about prevention and early treatment.

He advised people, particularly those involved in livestock trading, cattle markets and handling sacrificial animals, to take strict precautions against Congo virus by wearing gloves, using full-body protective clothing and protecting themselves from ticks commonly found on animals.

He said that symptoms such as fever, body aches or unusual bleeding should be treated seriously and immediate medical consultation should be sought.

Regarding monkeypox, Dr Arain stressed the importance of maintaining hygiene, avoiding close contact with infected individuals, frequent handwashing, using face masks and keeping personal belongings separate.

He said that anyone experiencing skin rashes, fever or physical weakness should report to the nearest hospital without delay.

The DHO said separate wards had been established in all hospitals across Sanghar district for suspected Congo virus and monkeypox patients to ensure timely medical care in case of any emergency.

He maintained that the overall situation in Sanghar district remained under control, but the health department was continuing to take all possible measures to protect public health.

“Precaution, cleanliness and timely treatment are the best ways to prevent such dangerous diseases,” he said, while also stressing that parents must ensure complete vaccination of their children to secure a healthier future generation.

World Health Organization representative Aftab Ahmed was also present on the occasion.
