DHA Suffa University hosts seminar on Gen Z, shared future

DHA Suffa University's Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Sindh Mental Health Authority, organised a seminar titled “Gen Z in Pakistan: Identity, Influence and the Future – Rights, Responsibilities and Shaping a Shared Future” to discuss the aspirations, challenges and future role of Pakistan’s youth

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) DHA Suffa University's Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Sindh Mental Health Authority, organised a seminar titled “Gen Z in Pakistan: Identity, Influence and the Future – Rights, Responsibilities and Shaping a Shared Future” to discuss the aspirations, challenges and future role of Pakistan’s youth.

The seminar, held at the university auditorium, brought together psychologists, psychiatrists, educators, policymakers, media professionals and students for a comprehensive discussion on issues concerning Generation Z.

The event was inaugurated by Air Commodore (R) Zahid Ul Hassan, SI(M), TI(M), Registrar of DHA Suffa University, who highlighted the importance of understanding the country's largest youth demographic. He stressed the shared responsibility of educational institutions, families, policymakers and society in preparing young people to become responsible and future-ready citizens.

The seminar featured expert presentations by Senator Prof Dr Kareem Khawaja, Prof Dr Chooni Lal, Prof Dr Washdev Amar and Prof Dr Amena Zehra Ali.

The speakers discussed topics including generational evolution, identity formation, mental health, digital technology, social media influences, parent-child communication, and the opportunities and challenges facing Gen Z in contemporary society.

A multidisciplinary panel discussion titled “What Does Gen Z Need, and What Does the Future Need from Gen Z” was also held. The panel comprised Erum Tanveer, Director General of the Press Information Department (PID), Kiran Kapadia, Prof Dr Neel Kanth, Hassaan Pasha, Nadeem Zaidi and Andaleeb Gufran.

The panellists exchanged views on educational transformation, emerging career pathways, leadership, responsible citizenship, technological advancements and the positive contributions young people can make towards national development.

The seminar concluded with a call for stronger collaboration among educators, parents, mental health professionals, policymakers and youth to promote resilience, responsibility, innovation and active citizenship.

Participants appreciated DHA Suffa University for providing an inclusive platform for dialogue on issues affecting one of the country's most significant demographic groups. Senator Prof Dr Kareem Khawaja and Erum Tanveer commended the initiative and emphasised the need for organising similar events on a regular basis.
