DG LG orders timely completion of ongoing uplift projects

LODHRAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jun, 2026) Director General Local Government and Community Development Punjab, Benish Fatima, visited Lodhran on Thursday to review the progress of development schemes under the Punjab Development Program (PDP), a flagship initiative of the Punjab government.

During her visit, she was given a detailed briefing at the Municipal committee office regarding the status of ongoing projects, including water supply, sewerage and drainage schemes. The briefing was attended by Chief Officer Municipal Committee Umar Mukhtar, Assistant Director Local Government Mudassar Hassan, Shaukat Ali, and other relevant officials.

Addressing the meeting, Benish Fatima described the Punjab Development Program as a multi-billion-rupee flagship project launched under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

She said the initiative would provide a lasting solution to drainage issue in the city

The DG directed officials to ensure the completion of all development works within the stipulated timelines and underscored the importance of maintaining the highest standards of construction quality. She directed officials to conduct mandatory laboratory test of material being used in uplift projects.

Benish Fatima further announced that the underground water storage tank being constructed in Lodhran would be made operational before June 30.

She added that work on the proposed Water Sewerage Treatment Plant would commence immediately after the approval and receipt of the project's design.

Later, the DG visited the PDP Pipe manufacturing factory and the project laboratory.
