DG Extension announces complete ban on rice cultivation in canals on left side of Indus river

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) Directorate General, Agricultural Extension, Agriculture Department announced that the Sindh government has imposed a complete ban on rice cultivation in the permanent canals on the left side of the Indus river, including Ghotki feeder, Rohri Canal, Nara Canal, Khairpur East, Khairpur West.

In this regard, all the residents on the left side of the Indus River should be instructed to fully follow this ban and refrain from planting rice.

In case of failure Strict legal action will be taken against the violators and the crops or crops will be confiscated.

Farmers should replace rice with other low-water kharif crops such as Plant-sowing, kharif pulses and oilseeds etc.

DG further instructed that with following instructions water and land could be saved. He urged people to fully cooperate with Sindh government for the betterment of Sindh.
