Dermatologist calls for preventive measures against heat related skin issues

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jul, 2026) Skin specialist Dr Shumaila Raja has urged citizens to take preventive measures to protect their skin during the ongoing spell of intense heat, warning that prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to various skin problems.

Talking to APP here on Wednesday, Dr Raja said excessive heat and strong ultraviolet (UV) rays could cause sunburn, heat rash, itching and other skin-related conditions. She advised people to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during peak daytime hours.

She recommended the regular use of sunscreen before going outdoors, drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated, maintaining proper skin hygiene and wearing light-coloured cotton clothing to minimise the harmful effects of extreme heat on the skin.
