DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Mar, 2026) The district police carried out a crackdown across the district during Eid-ul-Fitr and Chand Raat to maintain law and order, targeting aerial firing, illegal use of loudspeakers, and reckless driving.
According to a police spokesperson, the operations were conducted in City, Paroa, Paharpur, and Panyala circles on the directives of District Police Officer(DPO) Ziauddin Ahmad. Several suspects were arrested, and weapons along with other equipment were recovered.
Overall, police seized 16 pistols, 96 rounds of ammunition, one SMG with 75 rounds, one Kalashnikov, 30 sound systems, and several vehicles.
Giving details, he said iIn the city circle, police arrested six suspects and recovered six pistols, 24 rounds of ammunition, and 10 sound systems.
In Paroa circle, two pistols, 10 rounds, and nine sound systems were seized.
In Paharpur Circle, police arrested 16 individuals and confiscated five pistols, 47 rounds, six Datsun vehicles, and 10 sound systems.
In additional operations, he added that three suspects involved in aerial firing were arrested, and three pistols along with 15 rounds were recovered. More vehicles were also taken into custody for reckless driving.
In Panyala circle, police recovered one Kalashnikov, five magazines, and 74 rounds of ammunition.
The DPO says that ensuring public safety during Eid remains a top priority, adding that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands or disrupt the celebrations of citizens.
